June 2014 Favorite Products (And a Few I Hate)

Hey guys,
It's been almost a month since I started this blog, so I am super excited to share a few of my favorite things that I have loving over the last month. I may even throw in a couple things that are complete CRAP! Let's get started :)

Revlon Photoready Foundation
You all know how much I love make up. I never thought that I would like a foundation more than my Revlon Colorstay ... Until I picked this baby up (on sale, of course). OMG my world has been rocked. I typically like a matte finish foundation. I think dewy finish foundations leave my face looking a little greasy and that just isn't cute. This foundation is a satin finish, meaning that it isn't quite matte, but not completely dewy either. I just love it. It makes my skin look radiant and it gives a fair amount of coverage. The Colorstay foundation that I love can look a little heavy on the face because it is so matte, but the Photoready foundation is my new summer time foundation. Go pick some up now before that $2 off coupon on www.coupons.com expires!

Rimmel Show Offs/ Scandaleyes Eyeliner
Rimmel is on their game, in my opinion. The only thing that sucks is that Rimmel rarely goes on sale at the drugstore. As I said in my Money Saving Monday post, I have had Rimmel coupons for ages and haven't used them in hopes that a sale will come my way soon. Anyway, I am freaking loving the Rimmel Show Offs. They are a long wearing lip gloss/stain/lipstick. Dude, I don't even know what it is. They call it a lip lacquer. I don't even know what that means, but these babies stay on your lips all day. I talk on the phone all day err-day at work and I never have to re-apply my lip color when I wear these. My favorite color is called Big Bang. It is a really bright red that has a blue undertone, so it doesn't make your teeth look yellow.

To continue my love letter to Rimmel, I also love their Scandaleyes eyeliners. I have been backing off of my colored eyeliners and my black eyeliners recently. Instead, I have been using a nude liner in my waterline to keep me looking fresh for summer. Is it just me or do you all like to wear more natural makeup in the summer time? If you're like me, buy this nude eyeliner! Lord knows I never get enough sleep, so I need all the help I can get in the eye department. This eyeliner does the trick! My only complaint is that if you don't keep this one extremely sharpened, a random little piece of wood will freaking gouge your eye out and leave you begging for mercy.

Secret Clear Gel Antiperspirant in Hawaii Citrus Breeze
I had some coupons (shocking, I know) so I picked up some new deodorant a few weeks ago. I have been using the Secret gel deodorant since I was a stinky teenager, and after smelling this scent, I will never stop! It smells so good. I'm not sure if this is limited edition for summer, but I hope it is part of their permanent collection. This deo smells like oranges and lemons and I don't know what else. LOVE. IT SMELLS LIKE LOVE! Even my fiance has been sneaking and wearing this. I caught him a couple days ago and I was like "Dude, you're gross. Gitcha own tube!" I did try the Paris scented deodorant from Secret as well. I did NOT enjoy this scent. If you've ever been to Paris, you'll know that it smells like smog and the broken dreams of failed marriage proposals. Yuck.

Seche Vite Top Coat
Let's move on to nail products. I have been on the lookout for a good top coat that is actually quick drying. I had like $18 to spend in Up Rewards at Rite Aid and I saw this Seche Vite Top Coat was there for $9.99. A wee bit pricey if you ask me, but I got it for free, so whatevs!  Apart from this top coat smelling like a portable meth lab, I really love it. Seriously, the smell is like a punch in the chest. This top coat makes your polish look like you've had a gel manicure. I rarely indulge on getting my nails done. I think the last time I had shellac was in the winter if I'm not mistaken. Best part about this product: It actually is fast drying! If you're like me then you paint your nails and approximately 35 seconds later, your ADD kicks in and you mess up your nails. I started doing laundry after I did my nails and I didn't smudge one of them. The noxious fumes are worth a perfect manicure. Also, I don't know how to pronounce the name. I have been saying it like this: Saysh vee. Is that right? Or did I just embarrass myself?

I'm going to pair this up with a product I was disappointed in. I have never bought an Essie polish before, but I had those Up Rewards to use. I purchased the shade "Fiji." Don't get me wrong, I loooove this color. It is the softest baby pink. I don't have many pastel polishes, so I really wanted to try this one and see how I liked it. I was really disappointed with how streaky the polish applied. I put like 3 coats on and I still had like little bald patches and then some spots were all gloopy and gross. If there is a technique to making this polish work, this biyotch does not possess it. Someone teach me how to make this work. I want to like it, but I just can't!

Random favorites
Febreze Sleep Serenity in Quite Jasmine. I'm a fan of anything just shy of Ambien that is sleep promoting. I'm not even sure this makes you sleepy, but I have been spraying this in my bedroom before I go to sleep. It smells so good. The scent makes me think of rain on mountains or something like that. It smells really fresh. I usually go for more spicy scents, so it is saying a lot that I actually enjoy this.

Sticking with scents I love, Bath and Body had a sale on their candles a week or so ago. I picked up three candles in the scent "Ocean Driftwood." This is one of their summer scents. It smells a lot like the Mahogany Teakwood scent that is a part of their regular line if you have ever smelled that. I think it smells a lot like the inside of Abercrombie. Throwback to your teenage years and reminisce, only without the loud music and tacky graphic t-shirts.

HATE ITS
In addition to the Essie polish that was seriously underwhelming, I have a couple other products that just didn't work for me. Sorry if you love these products, but they are not my cup of tea.

L'Oreal Butterfly Mascara-- you all know I love L'Oreal mascara and I thought I would like this product. I have used it for two weeks and each time I use it I'm like "I just don't like this." I gave it an honest shot. This mascara is heavily perfumed, which I actually like. I like when products have a nice scent. If you haven't seen the want to this mascara, it has a wing on one side of it. I guess this is the part that is supposed to give you the butterfly effect (not the terrible movie with Ashton Kutcher). Like, I don't even know what to say about this product. It feels so wet on my lashes and I feel like I can only use the wand on the winged part of it. This product just freaks me out. Maybe it will grow on me... Or maybe I will throw it out. I can't decide.

Queen Helene Oatmeal and Honey Facial Scrub-- I bought this item because I love the Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask. I thought that if that face mask was awesome then the whole line must be. NO. No, it is not. Firstly, there is barely any grit to this mask. If I buy a face scrub, I expect it to be very exfoliating. This mask feels like Queen Helene was running low on microbeads and just threw in a tablespoon and called it a day. In addition to the lack of gritty particles, the texture of this feels super gross. This will probably gross you out, but it feels like snot. Snot on my face. Snot on my face with just a few grainy bits and it smells like Elmer's glue. Yuck. If you hate someone and want to give them a terrible gift, go with this mask!

And there you have it, some of my favorite products this month, and a couple that are complete trash. I hope this post has been helpful! If you want more Beauty on a Budget, follow me on twitter @butterybiscuit7 and on Instagram @bridgetb2011.

PS, We are almost at 10,000 in a little under a month! I am planning on doing a give away soon to celebrate this milestone. Stay tuned for details.

Xoxo,
