Makeup Tutorial: Patriotic Look for the 4th of July

Red, white, and blue makeup? Sounds tacky, right? You can wear all of those colors together in a tasteful way, and I am about to show you how! (Shout out to Teresa for sending me the hilarious photo above).
Only a few products are needed to create my version of a patriotic, yet glamorous look, for this 4th of July holiday!

Things you will need:
-Blue eye shadow (I used 3 different shades of blue to get enough color). Use any medium blue colors you have. I just used my 88 palette I got from Coastal Scents for like $8.
-Any white creamy base (I used the Nyx Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk)
-White eye shadow (I used Smashbox shadow in Freeze)
-Black eye shadow (I used Smashbox shadow in Blacktop)
-Primer (I used the Palladio one)
-Tape
-Favorite liquid liner
-Favorite pencil liner
-Favorite mascara
-Red lip color

1.) Prime your lid. Like in my last tutorial, I want a very sharp line on my outer eye. To achieve this, take some scotch tape and stick it to your hand a few times to make it less sticky. After you do that, put the tape along your eye. Make sure you put the tape on each eye at the same angle or you will look cray cray when you take it off.

2.) Run the blue shadow along the tape and bring it about half way in on your lid. The trip to building up the color is to pat the shadow on your lid. I used a medium blue, then I decided I wanted it to be more dramatic so I patted two more medium blue shadows on top of it. If you have a blue base, which I don't, you probably wouldn't have to pack on so much color.

3.) Next, take your white base and put it on the inner part of your eye. Do not rub this onto the blue or you'll mess everything up and have to start over. Pat the white base over to the blue, but don't touch the blue yet.

4.) Take your white shadow and a flat stiff brush and PAT, do not sweep, the white shadow over the white base. Don't touch the blue yet!!

5.) Next, take a lighter shade of blue shadow, or just barely tap the blue shadow you have been using if you don't have another shade to use, and very lightly tap the small area between the blue and white to blend them together. This is the hardest part of the look. I had to keep adding more white to make it blend together. Just play around with this part until you get a blended look that you are satisfied with.

6.) This part is optional, of course, but I wanted to darken the outer corner of my eye. Take a small brush and the black shadow and lightly run it along the tape and blend it out.

7.) Now it's time for the big reveal! Take off the tape and touch up any areas under the tape that may have came off with some concealer. I ran a little black liner along my waterline and a little liquid liner along my upper lashes. Finish with your favorite mascara.

8.) Now it's time for the red! I used two different lip products here. First, I put on Revlon Lacquer Balm in Provocateur. This will stain your lips so they stay red all day. Next, I topped the balm with Rimmel's Show Offs lip color in Big Bang.

And there you have it! A look you can wear for the 4th of July festivities this evening. Of course, if this look is too dramatic for you, you can substitute any colors that you like. Are you going to recreate this look? I would love to see you in it!  Send me pics on twitter @butterybiscuit7 and on Instagram @Bridgetb2011!

Happy birthday, 'Murica!
